Kin folk Andy and Shara Cantu came down last weekend and wanted to go out for a 1/2 day fishing trip to learn some new spots and mainly just some confidence in running his boat down here. As everyone knows, down here with the tides rising and falling as they do and the storms skirting our shorelines it’s always changing. We left out with good intentions but with the storms that we had the previous night and that morning I was pretty sure the bite was going to be tough. I was wrong, the bite was good , we caught 20 to 25 reds but they were all in the 18″ to 19 3/4″ range. Just a little bit short but the action was good . We did manage to catch 1 slot red along with 1 slot black drum. It was alot of fun but Shara you need to buy your husband a Power Pole. We took care of our little anchor problem. Andy’s anchor was a little small but with a constant 25 to 30 mph wind you better have a good anchor or your gonna be fishing way up there in the grass with the redfish and mullet. Really not a bad place to be with as high as the tides were. Andy & Shara brought down a couple friends, Mary and Scott. They were awesome. We had a great time and I’m looking to our next trip.
